Ogletree is bigger and considered to be more athletic (although his combine appearance didn't totally bear that out).  Brown is cleaner from a character perspective.

Brown's size is a bit of an issue but my bigger question is the level of competition he played in the Big XII vs. Ogletree in the SEC.

This pretty much drops every RB in the draft's stock by at least a full round.  And it ensures no power RB will ever again get a big payday.

Between this rule and the one they passed the other day about no blocking from behind in the tackle box, they are systematically eliminating running plays from the game.  Pretty soon it will just be Arena ball on a bigger field.  All passing, all the time.

Thank goodness Forte isn't a power runner to begin with... this rule change will hurt us less than other teams, but it will still be a problem.

Most power backs run between the tackles and I think the rule allows them to lower their head, but what about defenders?

Are they allowed to lower their head when making a tackle?

It feels like yet another rule where it's going to come to a judgment call...  i.e., how much money the refs have on a particular game.

But it will also mean more flags which means more play stoppages which means more opportunities for commercials which is how the league and the networks want it.  When you look at it that way it makes perfect sense.   :-\

I'm just wondering how many more RBs will now sustain severe knee injuries from hesitating to get low before the hit... and from defenders going low to avoid the penalty themselves.

This one seriously was not thought through very well at all.

Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei wasn’t able to work out for scouts at the combine because doctors found his hear was pumping below normal levels, leading him to return to Utah for more evaluation before resuming his normal workout schedule.

There were no further problems, which got Lotulelei cleared to take part in the school’s pro day on Wednesday. Joe Schad of ESPN reports that Lotulelei put up 225 pounds 38 times, had a 30 inch vertical leap and a 4.65 time in the shuttle run. Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net reports that Lotulelei ran the 40 even though he wasn’t scheduled to do so and put up an “official” time of around 5.15 seconds.

The numbers are good across the board for Lotulelei, but scouts were already high on him as a football player. The question for teams is going to be about his medical reports, not his ability since the latter has already been well documented. It’s certainly a good sign that he was given the go-ahead to take part in the pro day, although individual teams will likely still want to see what their medical personnel have to say.

Assuming things keep checking out on that front, there’s no reason to expect he won’t wind up being taken somewhere near the top of the draft.

Irather doubt that Thompson will draft a LT in the first round.  After getting burned twice by LT flops in the first round I don't think hre will try this year.  There are other real needs and another position may be more logical.

Fluker played RT at Alabama but had trouble with speedrushers. I think he moves inside at the next level

The top guy on both the run blocking and pass blocking lists was Barrett Jones. Now were we to do a dropdown Barrett Jones in the 3rd would be sweet.

The question is how much of his rookie season will Barrett Jones miss?

I like Barrett Jones and think he could be a solid pro and a good fit for what the new regime is trying to do in Chicago.  But I'm also not real interested in repeating the Brandon Hardin scenario where a guy who should be contributing his 1st year spends his entire rookie season in the training room.

But guys like Jones don't come along often and when you find them you draft them then get them up to speed. If you have to wait a year for Jones, we wouldn't be that bad off. I think Garza has another good year left in him.

Maybe if we can pick up a 3rd rounder that would be the place to take a chance on Jones.

But to spend our 2nd rounder on him would be foolish knowing what's known now about his health problems. When you're talking about a guy possibly starting his rookie season on the PUP list, that's not a guy you take in the middle of the 2nd round. 

Now granted Alshon Jeffrey didn't start on Day 1 for us last year either but that wasn't a health thing.  That was a coaching decision, and one I suspect Emery was none too happy with at that.

I figured we were trading down anyways, unless this Williams situation necessitates the use of #20 for Ogletree
