Corey Patterson - OF - Mets

Mets signed OF Corey Patterson to a minor league contract.

According to Jorge Castillo of the Newark Star-Ledger, he'll report to minor league camp. Patterson, 33, batted .251/.285/.410 with 10 home runs, 39 RBI and 18 stolen bases last season with the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate. He'll serve as outfield depth.

Corey looked completely cooked with the Sounds last season.  I'm a little surprised he was able to find another Triple-A job for this season.

Nice article on Mark Prior. Hard to believe that many questioned his commitment and toughness back when he was a Cub. I wish him the best.

Thanks for the Prior article, Ron. I've always been disgusted with the way quite a few fans treated him. Hopefully, they now understand he wasn't just hurt but nearly crippled by injuries.

Then again, reading the comments to the story leads me to believe some Cubs fans are still obnoxious jerks.

It's always a mistake to read the comments after any internet story.  It will destroy any remaining faith in the intelligence and/or humanity of our fellow homosapiens.

Amen.

I don't know anyone that's like the folks on Jerry Springer or respond to a story about a woman and her three children who burned to death in a New Orleans fire with "She was probably a crack whore."   To read stuff like that or watch some of these tv "reality" rehearsed shows is a real eye opener.

tico, you might can back off the ledge just a little bit.

As the Mariners have been in discussions with Felix Hernandez about a record-setting extension, concern has developed over the condition of his pitching elbow, a source says.

Method's medical staff cleared King Felix.

There are a lot of rumors in the back channels you rushed Method into this trade with clean bill of health assurances, after the dastardly divers medical staff warned you of impending arm doom.  I think the novice to the league and board, Method, probably would have wondered if something was up if you hadn't spun such a convincing Ryno-Palmeira yarn of him having slept with the wives of 4 of your top players.   I present to the board that Pedroia, Santana, Mauer, and Shields should be forfeited to the draft pool for unethical dealings.
