Heh heh, reb, with poor Steinbrenner losing money like, the conclusion is obvious: He won't have the cash to bid on either Tucker or Imai!

. They'll just be free for the Cubs to bid. If Imai won't have Dodgers or Yankees, why not us?

per Cotts, Yankees are currently ~$278, with *lots* of roster spots to fill. So they'll be under both 3-repeat tax plus the max surcharge.
-Imagine Cubs willing to go $35 AAV Tucker and $25 Imai.
-To make comparable offer, Yankees will need to be willing to commit >$70 Tucker and >$50 Imai.
But yeah, it would be fun if Steinbrenner does try to contain payroll a little, and doesn't go totally crazy on guys Cubs want.
