Yeah, Nico error and then called balk cost a run.

Cubs 1-16 hitting with RISP— hit was in 1st inning and then zilch.

Zeferjahn apparently unaware that Cubs had wheel play on and ignored the dead-duck baserunner advancing to 3B. Very un-Cub like mental error on defense and a very bad time to happen.

Boo.

I have little interest in prolonging this convo, but the winning hit landed a hundred feet past the infield dirt. If PCA's plays 10 feet closer in, he makes that catch. Easily.

This was the game. He never even looked. Arozarena actually stopped running, as if he knew he was dead to rights and was trying to start a rundown. Were the infielders not screaming “3” at Zeferjahn? I couldn’t tell…

I know Kelly was pointing and I would imagine he was probably yelling too. But honestly, why would Zeferjahn need to be reminded to make that play? Isn't that the foremost thing on your mind?

I didn't see any of the game.  But box score showed a clean inning for Palencia, mostly strikes, 2K's and a grounder.  Is that representative, did he look sharp?  Getting a strike-throwing Palencia back could help a lot. 

Velocity wasn't top by his standards (97-99) but he threw strikes and mixed in some decent offspeed looks.

Kelly also failed to challenge two strikes to Ward who ended up walking before Raleigh's homer.

Arozarena robs Amaya of a homer.

Going well so far.

Then doubles by Hoerner and Taylor make it 4 - 2

Nobody believes in Thornton, but that guy has got some "je nais sais quoi".
