I had never heard of Denard Span before reading the last couple of posts, but the guy plays CF, had 10 triples each of the last two years, score 95 runs in 145 games in 2009 (with only 8 HR) and was 26-4 last year in steals.  How bad a baserunner can he be?

The Phillies pay a heavy price for Hunter Pence.

Hunter Pence - OF - Astros

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Astros will acquire prospect first baseman Jonathan Singleton, prospect right-hander Jarred Cosart and two players to be named later from the Phillies in exchange for Hunter Pence.
The players to be named later are not expected to be big-time prospects like Singleton and Cosart, but one of them could be named as soon as Friday night. This was a pretty big price to pay for Philadelphia, but at least they managed to get the right-handed bat they've long coveted while keeping Domonic Brown in the fold.

The Phillies are a hell of a team right now, but I hate to see what they're going to be like in 3-4 years.  They're losing a lot of young talent, and as their vets under long term deals get older, it could get really ugly.

Jason Marquis goes to the Diamondbacks.

The Nationals are apparently getting closer to acquiring Denard Span.

Span is still on the DL recovering from a concussion but should be ready soon.

It sounds like the Indians are going for it...they seem to be getting close to trading for Ubaldo Jimenez.


Jimenez has now been scratched from his start.

In the top of the 3rd, a real good game in the Bronx.

Yankees lead 15-1. NY scores only 12-runs in the first inning. The Cubs have trouble scoring that in a week.

The Indians have played at a 100-loss pace since the end of May.

Don't think Jimenez is going to be enough, even in that division.
